The primary function of the Business Director is to lead business expansion, networking and market intelligence, team management as well as finances, administration, HR, procurement, legal and insurance-related aspects of the company.

The Job

General:

  • Establish and develop goals, financial targets, policies, practices, and internal procedures that will benefit the company and increase revenues, driving short-term revenue generation and long-term business development as well as the overall performance of the business

  • Ensure that goals and KPIs are pursued and achieved while efficiently managing resources and expenses

  • Drive sales and strategic business development with a focus on networking and utilization of strong market knowledge and relevant cycles in the exhibitions, conference and events sectors to take advantage of short-term opportunities, developing market trends, tenders, new projects and platforms

  • Continuously analyze and develop measures to adapt to operational and strategic challenges

  • Develop effective and sustainable business relationships with clients and suppliers

  • Manage and expand on relevant marketing and communications efforts reaching key audiences and stakeholders

  • Work closely with the management to continuously develop and successfully implement financial and operational planning, objectives and strategic stakeholder and partner relationships and to facilitate efficient and sustainable growth

  • Manage daily operations and administration and supervise project planning and implementation while effectively managing operational risks to ensure the highest client satisfaction at all times

Finance + Controlling:

  • Plan and manage company finances including accounting and reporting for operational expenses, pricing policies and other financial aspects

  • Oversee budgeting and budget controlling for active projects

  • Plan and manage the company's operating expenses, revenues and profits

  • Manage the company's cashflow and develop strategic financial planning for upcoming projects and company development

  • Manage the company's audits and tax reports in coordination with external auditors and tax consultants

Procurement + Supplier Management

  • Supervise the supplier management and procurement processes for the company

  • Oversee the development of the existing supplier network across the UAE and other markets

  • Oversee the management of a fully digital procurement process for suppliers across multiple projects together with dedicated resources in the company coordinating its digital services and applications framework

Administration + HR

  • Coordinate existing staff including time and capacity management, holiday planning, internal workshops and trainings, internal communication etc.

  • Plan and manage hiring for permanent staff for the development of the company as well as freelancers and external specialists for pitches and active projects

  • Lead, manage, motivate and develop the team in alignment with orientations.events’ core philosophies and long-term strategy while continuously developing capabilities, productivity and performance as well as an attractive employer profile towards expanding resources with top talent

 Legal

  • Manage contracts and other legal aspects for the company including contract negotiations with clients, suppliers and staff and any other legal aspects in coordination with external legal consultants and solicitor(s)

Insurances

  • Manage the company’s insurances in general and coordinate insurance policies as required specifically for active projects

Skills and Knowledge

  • 8-10 years of experience in relevant roles

  • Proven experience and track record at an exhibition organizer and/or event agency

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration (or higher) will be a highly beneficial qualification

  • Experience working with clients and projects in Dubai and the wider the GCC /MENA region

  • Keen sense of business development, financial management, administration, and leadership for a developing business in the exhibitions industry

  • Highly developed management skills and growth-driven mindset towards effectively developing a small but growing business in a highly competitive marketplace

  • Strong communication skills, fluent English language capabilities and ability to work in an agile and ambitious business environment. Arabic language capabilities are beneficial.
