The primary responsibility of the VP is to lead, drive and manage the office of our clients and the associated portfolio of events. To drive profitable growth organically as well as by a program of profitable international launches. To build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support both existing and new launch events. Oversee the relationship between the team you are responsible for and other offices around the world.
Full responsibility for the delivery of the P+L for the events portfolio you are responsible for.
To launch sustainable and profitable long-term event products.
To develop and implement the events strategy
Maximise sales for the events (regional and international).
Drive double digit profit growth from the portfolio of events by a combination of
strong organic growth in the core event; and
a program of profitable international launches
Develop short term and 5 year strategic plans for the portfolio
Identify an ongoing pipeline of launches building on brand, relationships and databases
Ensure that the portfolio delivers an excellent visitor, exhibitor, sponsor and delegate experience
Ensure the team has appropriate current and future talent in place, and that comprehensive training, development and succession plans are in place and rigorously executed
Develop relationships at the highest political and industry levels
Head up the office and develop the infrastructure (people / systems / processes / procedures) to deliver the corporate objectives and regional strategy.
Qualifications & Experience:
Technical / Functional
Strong leadership qualities
Goal driven approach
Financial and commercial awareness
Extensive experience in international B2B conference sponsorship and exhibitions.
Ability to create and manage a sales pipeline/budget/P&L – provide weekly reports with an accurate forecast
Experience in the use of databases (preferably Salesforce) in both mass and targeted sales campaigns
Excellent negotiation and relationship building skills
Excellent command of written and spoken (business) English – other languages could be an advantage.
Sound commercial awareness, excellent organisational skills
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Solid numeric abilities and experience with quantitative analysis
Highly motivated and proactive
Strong sense of urgency and results orientation
Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with and relate to all levels both within and outside the organisation
